There are two ways to fly:

 

 

Earn your Part 107 Certification from the FAA

 

  • Pass an aeronautical knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing facility.

 

  • Testing fee-$150

 

  • Undergo Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) security screening.

 

  • Successfully pass a recurrent training course every two years.  

 

OR

 

Fly under the Special Rule for Model Aircraft

 

  • Fly strictly for hobby or recreational use.

 

  • Operate in accordance with a community-based set of safety guidelines and within the programming of a nationwide community-based organization, such as the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
